Gary and Jill Leiter relocated to Alaska from the Midwest and have spent the past 30 years dedicated to the field of education. In addition to their extensive classroom experience, they have used their summers to pursue complementary interests, including managing remote wilderness lodges and operating their own educational backpacking guide service. Through this venture, they taught students practical skills such as wilderness survival, cold water safety, and environmental science. Education has remained at the core of their professional and personal lives, and they continue to engage directly with students while also sharing their expertise through LeiterLoad Educational Services.
MEET YOUR INSTRUCTORS
Jill Leiter is a dedicated guidance counselor with over 13 years of experience at a private school
in Soldotna, Alaska, where she developed a comprehensive counseling program focused on helping students create personalized academic and career pathways. Her approach emphasized early planning and strategic preparation, empowering students to become competitive candidates for college and trade school scholarships. Under her guidance, students collectively earned hundreds of thousands of dollars in scholarship funding. Through the years, Jill’s students have benefitted from her practical philosophy—“I don’t expect you to have your entire life planned out, but if you graduate without a solid plan for the next year, I have failed you as a counselor.” Through her online independent courses, Jill continues to mentor students beyond the traditional classroom to prepare them for success after high school
Dr. Gary Leiter is an experienced educator
who has dedicated over 20 years to teaching mathematics and language arts. He holds a Master’s degree in Curriculum and a Ph.D. in Education, combining deep academic knowledge with practical classroom expertise. Throughout his career, Dr. Leiter has developed and taught a range of engaging online courses, including Alaska History and Film as Literature, reflecting his commitment to innovative, accessible learning for diverse student populations. He plans to publish more courses in the future, including Math and English courses.
